The Australia-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce invites you to an exclusive briefing event where you will have the opportunity to hear from the experts who have been involved in the policy, planning and drafting of the new Myanmar investment laws and rules and regulations along with the new Companies Law. Join us to gain an insiders’ view on the new investment laws while developing a deeper understanding of what the law might mean for Australian businesses and potential Australian investors.

Speakers
U Aung Naing Oo (Director General of DICA)
U Aung Naing Oo has been the Director General of DICA under the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development since 2012. He has also been the secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) since 28th May 2014. He has attended training in various institutions including WTO and has participated in many international seminars and meetings related to investment, trade and ASEAN affairs. He was also the Co-chair of OECD Task-force on updating Policy Framework for Investment. U Aung Naing Oo has played an instrumental role in the policy and preparation of the new Myanmar investment laws.
Chris Hughes (Partner, Berwin Leighton Paisner)
Chris is an Australian and UK qualified lawyer who has been advising business and government on Myanmar investments and law reforms for the last three years. He was the lead draftsman of the proposed new Companies Law and during that process worked closely with DICA and the IFC drafting team to ensure that these two critical business law reforms were harmonised. Through his firm BLP he has now been engaged by the IFC to support DICA on the preparation of the implementing rules for the new Investment Law.
Jodi Weedon (CEO, Australia-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce)
Jodi is the current Chief Executive Officer of the Australia-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce. Ms Weedon is an experienced corporate lawyer with extensive experience in major strategic transactions, mergers and acquisitions, major infrastructure and construction projects, public-private partnership projects and government tenders both within Australia and internationally. She has also had several in-house counsel roles in the Australian market. As CEO of A-MCC Jodi has been very active in promoting business opportunities between the Australian and Myanmar markets, as well as running initiatives and programs for capacity building and knowledge sharing. Ms Weedon has taken a lead role in advocacy by assisting with commentary on and public consultation of various pieces of draft legislation being put before Myanmar parliament. She is a keen supporter of responsible investment into Myanmar and sharing Australian best practices.
